We already have list of differences from DOA2 to DOA3. You can find
that list under the "GameTopics" Link, but that is a list that really
highlights features changes and upgrades in DOA3 that are improvements and
additions from DOA2.
This Mini-Faq Listing is some features that were
in DOA2 that were LOST in DOA3
That is features that were lost in the move from DOA3 to DOA2 which
players should expect (hope :-) to get back when DOA Online comes out as
an Upgraded DOA2.
Intro:
DOA Online is of course coming as the next chapter in the DOA series.
The odd thing is that the next chapter of a series is being based
entirely off of a previous version of the series, something I can't
think of being done very much at all, esp. in fighters.
I noticed going back and playing DOA2 HC that there seems to actually be
quite a few features in DOA2 (various versions) that are not in DOA3.
Of course we know DOA Online will likely LOSE some things :-(
that DOA3 has since it's based on DOA2. However there are things DOA3
players will gain in DOA Online besides the obvious BIG feature:
"Online 3D fighting". This includes anything like moves lost in DOA3
(I think I found 1 already, are there more?), Game Modes missing,
costumes, characters etc.
Personally, having played previous versions of DOA much more casually than
DOA3 I'm interested here in getting a list of those features in DOA2
that were not in DOA3.
Hopefully these are features to look forward to in DOA
Online.

The List
1- Jumping Backward -- Big game play plus IMO. DOA3 apparently
sacrificed it for better 8WR. I hope DOA4 would have both 8WR and jumping
backward (How about using the Left Trigger here for instance?)
2- A Ton of Costumes -- Having all these upgraded to a state of the
art graphics engine will be huge.
3- Many Stages -- Some beautiful stages will be be redone!
4- Playable Boss -- DOAOnline may lose the New characters of DOA3
but at least one should come back.
5- Moves -- Ayane's f,f+p,f+k move, More?
6- The arcade-style holds option in DOA2
7- Cut-scenes used the in game engine. In DOA2, all of the cut
scenes were rendered in real-time. Including the intros, story mode cut
scenes, and endings
8- CG gallery
9- Escape more throws with P+F
10- Kung Fu Kata's demonstrated by Lei Feng, Helena, and Gen Fu.
11- Collapsible ground, found in DOA2's snow stage
12- DOA2:HC had the UPS system. (User Profile System)
13- DOA2:HC has ENGLISH voice overs.
14- DOA2:HC had that item collection menu, listing how many
survival items you've collected.
15- Breasts may have been proportioned bigger. LOL :-0
16- DOA2:HC You can actually dash backwards while blocking!!!! Hold
the free button, and tap b,b or is it tap b, than hold b... (So did this +
jumping backward = more turtling?)
17- In DOA2 you could set the Time limit, the Number of rounds, the life
gauge and difficulty, for each game mode. In DOA3 option choices
are limited to one setting for all modes that can be affected.
18- More Stats - (In DOA2 you could check out all of the rankings
for just about every possible fighter combo there was. In DOA3 you only
see the top ranking info. So, you can't go back and look at most of the
battles you had.)
19- Kasumi doesn't have her loose hair option in DOA2.
20- Stage Options - In DOA2, you have many stage options, such as
to:
Change the starting point of the match on multi-tired levels.
Change the time setting on the Aerial Garden and the Iron Hell. I know the
Beach level on DOA3 has the same option, but if you want to get technical,
I suppose you could say the Aerial Garden has 3 time settings, and the
Beach only has 2.
21- Ayane's secret cut scene. -
22- The random Tag option... Since I'm sure most of you don't know
what I'm talking about:
In DOA2, at the main menu, if you press start on Tag Battle, and not just
X, it will randomize the computer's characters and costumes.
DOA3 does not have the same option.
23- Leon has the STF grab in DOA2 instead of Bayman having it.
24- You get random costumes in Team Battle
25- DOA2: Hardcore has more stages and many are larger stages.
26- Completing Tag Battle in DOA2:HC actually showed credits and a
replay of all of your end of fight "replays" during each match.
27- Record Mode - You get play a match, and play a recording of it
back after the fight is over. And even save it onto your memory card to
watch at any time!
28- Survival Item Counts - In DOA2 in survival mode you get little
item's on the bottom of the screen to indicate how many time you won!!
There is no Sushi, or anything else in DOA3. |
